Present continuous ຫລື present progressive ຄືຮູບປະໂຫຍກທີ່ໃຊ້ກັບເຫດການ ຫລື ການກະທຳທີ່ກຳລັງເກີດຂຶ້ນ ຫລື ດຳເນີນຢູ່ໃນຂະນະທີ່ເວົ້າຢູ່ນັ້ນ ຫລື ໃຊ້ກັບເຫດການ ຫລື ການກະທຳທີ່ເກີດຂຶ້ນໃນຊ່ວງໄລຍະເວລາໃດເວລາໜິ່ງໃນປະຈຸບັນ ຫລື ໃຊ້ກັບເຫດການ ຫລື ການກະທຳທີ່ເກີດຂຶ້ນຊໍ້າໆ ຫລື ໃຊ້ກັບອະນາຄົດທີ່ກຳນົດໄວ້ແນ່ນອນ.

ປະທານ (subject) + (am/is/are) + V-ing (present participle)

ຄວາມໜາຍ ແລະ ການນໍາໃຊ້:

1. ໃຊ້ Present Continuous ສຳລັບການກະທຳທີ່ກຳລັງດຳເນີນຢູ່ໃນຂະນະທີ່ເວົ້າຢູ່ນັ້ນ. ສ່ວນຫລາຍຈະມີສຳນວນການສະແດງເວລາໃນ Present Continuous tense ເຊັ່ນ: now, right now, ແລະ at the moment.

·         Can you call back later? We are studying at the moment.

·         Shhh!! I‘m trying to concentrate!

·         Look, it‘s raining, again!!

·         They‘re playing basketball.

·         You are studying the Present Progressive right now.

2. Present Continuous ຍັງສາມາດສະແດງເວລາປະຈຸບັນທີ່ຍັງຈະສືບຕໍ່ໄປ, ການກະທຳທີ່ກຳລັງດຳເນີນຢູ່ແຕ່ບໍ່ໄດ້ເກີດຂຶ້ນໃນຂະນະທີ່ກຳລັງເວົ້າຢູ່. ສາມາດໃຊ້ສຳນວນການສະແດງເວລາ ເຊັ່ນ: as this week ຫລື these days ເພື່ອສະແດງໃຫ້ເຫັນເຖິງການກະທຳທີ່ກຳລັງເກີດຂຶ້ນ. ການກະທຳອາດຈະດຳເນີນຢູ່ ຫລື ອາດຈະເລື່ມ ແລະ ຢຸດຊໍ້າໆໄປມາ.

·         I‘m looking for a cheap car, do you have any ideas?

·         They‘re renovating their kitchen this month, it‘s taking a long time.

·         I‘m in the middle of reading a really good book.

3. ສະຖານະການຊົ່ວຄາວສາມາດສະແດງອອກໃນຮູບຂອງ Present Continuous ໄດ້, ຖ້າເຮົາຮູ້ສຶກວ່າສະຖານະການນັ້ນບໍ່ຖາວອນ ແລະ ຈະບໍ່ສືບຕໍ່ໄປເປັນເວລານານ.

·         I‘m staying with a friend this week.

·         She‘s living in Seoul for a few months.

·         Jack‘s working at a cafe until he finds a job in his field.

4. ກິດຈະວັດທີ່ຊົ່ວຄາວ ຫລື ກິດຈະວັດໃໜ່ ສາມາດສະແດງໃນຮູບຂອງ Present Continuous ໄດ້. (ສຳລັບກິດຈະວັດທີ່ປົກກະຕິ ແລະ ມີການດຳເນີນໄປຢ່າງຕໍ່ເນື່ອງເປັນເວລານານ ແລະ ຖາວອນ, ໃຫ້ເລືອກໃຊ້ Present Simple)

·         I‘m drinking a lot of coffee this week!

·         You‘re smoking too much.

·         They‘re working late every night.

5. ສາມາດໃຊ້ Present Continuous ເພື່ອອະທິບາຍສະຖານະການທີ່ກຳລັງປ່ຽນແປງຢ່າງຊ້າໆ.

·         My grades are improving this year.

·         Technology is getting cheaper all the time.

·         Global warming is becoming an important issue.

·         My English is getting better!

6. ສາມາດໃຊ້ Present Continuous ເພື່ອກ່າວເຖິງແຜນອະນາຄົດທີ່ແນ່ນອນ, ໃຊ້ຮ່ວມກັບສຳນວນບອກເວລາໃນອະນາຄົດ ເຊັ່ນ: Tomorrow, next week.

·         I‘m having lunch with Jackie tomorrow.

·         We‘re going to France next week!

·         She‘s leaving at three.

·         They‘re going to the movies on the weekend.

7. ພວກເຮົາໃຊ້ Present Continuous ເພື່ອບົນ (ຈົ່ມ) ກ່ຽວກັບສະຖານະການໃດໜິ່ງ, ເຊິ່ງຕາມປົກກະຕິຈະມີຄຳກິລິຍາວິເສດຮ່ວມດ້ວຍ ເຊັ່ນ: always, constantly, continually, and forever.

·         You‘re constantly missing the train.

·         James is always losing his keys.

·         She‘s forever talking on the phone.
